Baguette Diamond Necklaces for Women

A baguette is a slim rectangle of a diamond, cut with long, flat facets that flash rather than sparkle. On its own it's a small, quiet stone; set in a row, it becomes a bright straight line. Our baguette necklace draws exactly that line, with a row of baguettes leading down to an asscher-cut diamond, and every other baguette design can be made to order.

Light in Straight Lines

The name comes from the French word for a long, narrow loaf of bread, and the shape matches it: a thin rectangle, usually several times longer than it is wide, with crisp square ends. Like the emerald cut, a baguette is a step cut. Its facets run in a few parallel bands along its length, so instead of scattering light into tiny sparks, it reflects it in clean, mirror-like flashes. Because there are so few facets, a baguette looks sharp and graphic. You notice its outline first and its sparkle second, which is why designers reach for it when they want a piece to look architectural.

Why Baguettes Rarely Travel Alone

A single baguette is small for its length and can look slight on a chain by itself. Its real strength shows when several are placed together. Set end to end, baguettes form an unbroken line of light. Set side by side, they become a band or a bar. Arranged around a larger stone, they act as a frame that makes the center look bigger and sharper. That's why most baguette jewelry uses the cut as a supporting player: in eternity bands, in earrings, and in necklaces where the baguettes lead the eye toward a main stone. Our necklace follows that tradition, and our wider baguette diamond jewelry shows the cut in rings, earrings and bracelets too.

The Asscher and Baguette Drop

Our asscher and baguette drop necklace brings two step cuts together in one vertical line. A short column of baguettes hangs from the chain, and below them sits an asscher-cut diamond, a square step cut with deep corners that create a pattern of nested squares when you look into the stone. The total diamond weight is 1.20 carats, all lab-grown.

The pairing works because the two cuts share the same language: flat facets, broad flashes of light and straight edges. The baguettes act like a stem, the asscher like a flower at the end of it, and together they read as one long, clean drop rather than two separate stones. The vertical line also makes the neck look longer, so the necklace suits V-necks, scoop necks and open collars, where the drop has room to hang without touching fabric. More asscher designs are collected in our asscher cut diamond jewelry.

Wearing a Step-Cut Drop

Step cuts look calmer than brilliant cuts, so a baguette necklace pairs easily with other jewelry. Wear it on its own for a minimal, Art Deco-inspired look, or add a fine chain on a shorter length above it to frame the drop. Because the piece is long and linear, it balances well with round studs or a simple bracelet rather than another drop. In white gold or silver, the baguettes and asscher look cool and icy; in yellow gold they take on a warmer, vintage character that recalls 1920s and 1930s jewelry, the era when step cuts first became fashionable. Our Art Deco jewelry guide explains why the period loved these shapes. If you prefer a shape that holds one larger step-cut stone, our emerald cut diamond necklaces offer single pendants, rows and pairs.

Matching Baguette Pieces

Since baguettes are so often used in groups, it's easy to build a set around this necklace. Our baguette diamond earrings include hoops and geometric studs that echo its straight lines, our baguette diamond bracelets include an east-west tennis style, and our baguette wedding bands carry the same channel of light onto the hand. Matching the metal across the pieces does more to tie them together than matching the exact design.

Baguette Necklaces Made to Order

If you'd like a different baguette design, our custom design service can make one in natural or lab-grown diamonds. Some of the styles we can create:

  • A single baguette pendant. One baguette hung vertically for a slim drop, or set sideways as a small east-west bar at the collarbone.
  • A baguette bar. Several baguettes set end to end or side by side in a straight or gently curved bar.
  • A baguette frame. A center stone, such as a round, oval or emerald cut, surrounded by baguettes for a geometric halo with an Art Deco feel.
  • A longer or shorter drop. More or fewer baguettes above the asscher, or a different center stone at the end.
  • Tapered baguettes. Stones that narrow at one end so they can fan out from a center or follow a curve.

You can also choose the metal, the chain length and whether the design uses natural or lab-grown stones. Larger natural baguettes are less common, so for bold designs lab-grown often gives more flexibility.

Every baguette necklace is made in 925 sterling silver and in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold. The drop necklace and any pendant can be paired with a chain in silver, 14K or 18K gold, though pieces made in 10K are sold without one. Baguette necklaces priced over $800 include a GSI certificate for the finished piece.

FAQs

Yes. On its own, a baguette makes a slim, minimal pendant, especially when it's hung vertically on a fine chain or set sideways as a small bar. Because the stone is narrow, a bezel is usually the most secure setting. Our made-to-order service can create one to your size.

Very well. Both are step cuts, so they share the same flat, mirror-like flash and straight lines, which makes them look like a set even when the designs differ. Keeping the metal the same strengthens the link. Our emerald cut diamond rings include rings and bands to pair with it.

A tapered baguette narrows from one end to the other, so its long sides aren't parallel. That lets several stones fan out from a center or follow a curve without gaps, which is why tapered baguettes often flank a larger stone. Our baguette jewelry collection shows both straight and tapered styles.

Yes. A tennis bracelet's continuous line of diamonds echoes the line of baguettes in the necklace, so the two look coordinated without matching exactly. Choose the same metal for the cleanest result. Our tennis bracelets include round and baguette styles.
