Oval Diamond Necklaces for Women
An oval is the one diamond shape we set both ways: upright, so it points down the neckline, and east-west, so it lies across the collarbone. This collection holds 24 oval necklaces in both directions, from single solitaires and colored pendants to halos, clusters and necklaces with five, seven or nine ovals hanging along the chain, in natural and lab-grown diamonds.
Why the Oval Reads Larger
An oval spreads its weight over a longer outline than a round of the same carat, so more of the stone faces outward. On a pendant, that extra length also gives the eye a direction to follow, which is why an oval tends to look a little more substantial on the neck than its weight suggests. The shape has no points or corners to protect, so it sits comfortably in a bezel and wears well against clothing.
Pointing Down the Neckline
Set upright, an oval draws a short vertical line at the base of the throat. That line makes the neck look longer and suits V-necks, open collars and anything with a scoop. Our upright oval solitaires come in natural diamonds at 1 carat and in lab-grown diamonds at 1 and 3 carats, mostly held in a smooth bezel. A natural oval of half a carat or more comes with an IGI or GIA report, and a lab-grown oval of 1 carat or more with an IGI report. Lying Across the Collarbone
Turn the same oval 90 degrees and the effect changes completely. An east-west oval sits wide and low, echoing the line of the collarbone, so it looks modern and pairs well with crew necks and high necklines where an upright stone would get lost. Ours are all lab-grown: halos at 1 and 1.43 carats that ring the oval with small diamonds, an east-west cluster pendant, and a 1.5 carat sunburst that fans small stones out from the center. Ovals in Pink, Yellow, Blue and Green
An oval's long faceting holds color well, so it's one of the most popular shapes for fancy color diamonds. Our colored oval pendants come in pink, yellow, blue and green at 1 and 3 carats, bezel set so the metal frames the shade. They're lab-grown and then color-treated after growth to produce the color, which each product page states. Every color and shape is gathered in our colored diamond necklaces.
Five, Seven or Nine Ovals
Our multi-stone oval necklaces hang ovals at intervals below the chain, so each stone swings slightly as you move. Nine small ovals totaling 0.90 carats make a fine, even scatter; seven ovals at 2.80 carats give each stone more presence; and five ovals at 3 carats read almost like separate pendants. All three come in natural and lab-grown diamonds. On the natural five-stone version, each oval is around 0.60 carats, large enough for its own grading report. If the oval you want isn't in the collection, we can make it. Through our custom design service, you can choose:
- A larger stone. Lab-grown ovals above 3 carats can be made to order. Natural ovals are available up to 1 carat.
- The direction. Any solitaire design can be set upright or east-west.
- The color. A white oval or a fancy pink, yellow, blue or green one, with the treatment disclosed.
- The setting. A bezel for a smooth, protected edge, prongs for more light, or a halo of small diamonds for extra width.
- The metal and chain. Any of our gold colors and karats or sterling silver, at the chain length you prefer.

Matching Oval Pieces
An oval pendant pairs naturally with oval studs from our oval diamond earrings. Every oval necklace is made in 925 sterling silver and in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold. Some come with the chain attached; on pendants you can add a chain in silver, 14K or 18K gold, and 10K pieces ship without a chain. Ovals priced over $800 also come with a GSI certificate for the finished piece.
