Diamond Cluster Earrings for Women
A cluster earring groups several small diamonds so tightly that they read as one larger, brighter shape. Our clusters come in two styles, round clusters and mixed-shape cluster bars, in natural or lab-grown diamonds and yellow, white or rose gold.
A Big Look From Small Stones
Diamond prices climb steeply with size, so a single 1 carat diamond costs far more than ten diamonds weighing a tenth of a carat each. A cluster takes advantage of that. Set close together, the small stones fill an outline that would need a much larger single diamond, and every one of them throws back light, so the earring sparkles across its whole face.
Clusters are also lighter on the ear than a single stone of the same visual size, since less diamond means less weight. That makes them comfortable for a full day.
Two Ways We Build a Cluster
Round clusters. Small round diamonds arranged into a circle or soft shape. From a short distance, the group reads as one larger round stone with a slightly textured, glittering surface.
Mixed-shape cluster bars. A fancy-shaped diamond, such as an emerald cut, radiant, pear, marquise or trillion, set alongside a line of rounds. The contrast between the larger shape and the small stones gives these a modern, asymmetric look.
Reading the Weight on a Cluster
The carat weight on a cluster earring is the combined weight of every diamond in the pair. Because that weight is spread across many stones over a wider area, a 0.50 carat cluster looks much larger than a 0.50 carat pair of solitaire earrings. If you'd rather have one larger diamond per ear, the solitaire collection is the place to look.
Studs or Dangles
Cluster studs sit flat on the earlobe and suit daily wear, work and layering with other piercings. Cluster dangles hang a little below the lobe and move as you do, which makes them a good choice for evenings, weddings and occasions where you want more sparkle. More hanging styles are in our dangling earrings. For a bridal look, our guide to pairing earrings with a wedding dress helps match a style to a neckline.
Natural or Lab-Grown
Every cluster design is made in both natural and lab-grown diamonds, so you can choose the same earring either way. Lab-grown versions usually cost less, while natural diamonds suit anyone who wants a mined stone.
The small diamonds in a cluster are too small for individual grading reports. Instead, any pair priced above $800 comes with a jewelry certificate from GSI, an independent lab, covering the finished earrings. Compare all natural diamond earrings and lab-grown diamond earrings.
Wearing and Caring for a Cluster
A cluster has many small prongs, so a quick look every few months is worth it: if a stone seems to move or a prong has lifted, have it tightened before you lose a diamond. Choose screw backs over push backs if you plan to sleep in them or wear them during exercise. Both are available on our cluster earrings, in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold.
Lotion and skin oil collect in the gaps between small stones and dull them faster than a single diamond. Soak the earrings in warm, soapy water, brush gently with a soft toothbrush from behind, then rinse and dry. Our care guide covers more.
