Radiant Cut Engagement Rings for Women
A radiant is the one rectangular diamond cut for full brilliance: the clean outline of an emerald cut with the fire of a round. That makes it the shape most at home beside more sparkle, and our radiant engagement rings lean into it. Every design pairs the center with a pavé band, either on its own or with a halo, in natural, lab-grown or colored diamonds.
Why a Radiant Pairs With Pavé
Step cuts like the emerald look calm and glassy, so small brilliant diamonds beside them can feel busy. A radiant is different. Its many brilliant-style facets already throw quick, bright flashes, so a band of small pavé diamonds continues the same kind of light rather than contrasting with it. The center and the band read as one sparkling piece.
The radiant's corners help too. They're clipped at an angle rather than left sharp, which protects the stone and gives the outline a slightly softer frame. Pavé settings follow those corners neatly, and a halo can trace them all the way around. The shape itself, including square versus rectangular outlines, is explored on our radiant cut diamond rings page.
The Pavé Band
In our radiant pavé ring, the center sits on its own in prongs while small diamonds run along the shank toward it. The outline of the radiant stays crisp and fully visible from above, and the band adds light whenever the hand moves. It's the cleaner of the two designs: modern, balanced and easy to pair with a wedding band. A rectangular radiant set lengthwise makes the finger look longer, while a squarer one gives a compact, even look; either way, the pavé band keeps the eye moving toward the center. In white gold the ring looks bright and icy; in yellow gold the small diamonds take on a warm glow that sets off the center's fire. It's made with natural or lab-grown centers, and in color as a solitaire with a pavé band.
The Halo With a Pavé Band
Here the center is surrounded by a row of small diamonds that follow its clipped-corner outline, and the pavé continues down the band. The halo makes the radiant look noticeably larger and adds a bright frame around it, giving the ring its most glamorous look. Because the radiant is already so lively, the halo amplifies rather than competes. It's the design to choose if you want the ring to catch light from across a room, and it gives a modest center the presence of a larger stone. It's also a flattering frame for a colored center, since the white halo makes the shade look deeper by contrast. It comes with natural, lab-grown and colored centers, and you can compare the style across shapes in our halo engagement rings.
Clarity in a Radiant
Because a radiant's brilliant faceting breaks up the view into the stone, small inclusions are harder to see than in a step cut such as an emerald or asscher. Many radiants graded SI1 or VS2 look clean to the eye, though it always depends on where the inclusions sit, so it's worth viewing photos or video of the actual stone. That flexibility often lets buyers put more of the budget toward size or setting.
Natural, Lab-Grown or Colored Centers
Both designs are offered with three kinds of center.
A natural radiant is mined and offered at 1 carat, with larger natural stones sourced on request. Any natural center of 0.50 carat or more comes with an IGI or GIA report. Mined designs sit in our natural diamond engagement rings.
A lab-grown radiant is grown by the CVD method and is diamond in every physical and chemical respect. Lab-grown centers reach 3 carats in the listed sizes and go larger to order, with an IGI report on every lab-grown radiant from 1 carat. Our lab-grown diamond engagement rings show the larger sizes.
A colored radiant brings pink, yellow, blue or green to the center, as a solitaire with a pavé band or as a halo with a pavé band. These are lab-grown diamonds colored by treatment after growth, as each listing states, including those whose older names leave out the word "lab". They run to 3 carats listed, larger by request. The radiant's deep, faceted body holds color well, which is why the shape is a favorite for colored centers. See all four shades in our colored lab diamond engagement rings.
Radiant rings priced above $800 include a GSI jewelry certificate. Choose 925 sterling silver or 10K, 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose.
Pairing a Band
A radiant pavé ring sits beside a straight band easily, since the center is held above the pavé shank. A halo with a pavé band is a little wider at the top, so a thin straight band or a gently curved one sits most comfortably beside it. Many brides choose a pavé band to continue the sparkle, or a plain band for contrast. Our curved wedding bands include shapes that tuck around a halo.
Radiants Made to Your Design
Beyond the two listed designs, we can make a radiant engagement ring in almost any style. That includes a plain solitaire with four or more claws at the clipped corners, a bezel wrapping the radiant in a smooth rim of gold, a hidden halo that adds sparkle beneath the stone, a three-stone ring with a radiant at the center, an east-west radiant set sideways, or a colored radiant solitaire with no pavé. We can also source a natural radiant above 1 carat or a lab-grown one above 3. Share your idea with our custom design team. Shipping on US orders is free, and we deliver abroad as well.
