Black Diamond Wedding Bands for Women
A white diamond sparkles. A black diamond shines. Its surface reflects light like polished stone, so a black diamond band looks glossy and graphic rather than glittering. Our black diamond wedding bands use that quality in solid black rows, in black alternating with white, and in pattern designs such as checkerboard and gridlock, across round, oval, pear, princess, emerald cut, Asscher and heart shapes.
Why Black Shines Instead of Sparkling
In a white diamond, light enters the stone, bounces off its facets and comes back out as flashes of color and brightness. A black diamond is opaque, so light can't travel through it. Instead, it reflects off the polished facets on the surface, giving a deep, mirror-like luster. Turn a black diamond band in your hand and you see sharp glints along the facet edges against a dark, glassy body.
That's why black diamond bands are designed differently from white ones. Instead of chasing sparkle, they play with contrast, pattern and the color of the gold around them.
How Our Black Diamonds Get Their Color
The black diamonds in our bands are natural diamonds whose color comes partly from dense natural inclusions, such as graphite, and is then enhanced by treatment to give an even, deep black. Treatment is a standard practice for black diamonds and is disclosed on every listing. Some designs pair black diamonds with white lab-grown diamonds, and those are labeled as well.
All Black
A solid row of black diamonds is the most dramatic look in the collection. Our all-black bands come in full and half eternity designs, some bezel-set so each stone sits in a polished rim of gold, and in a double-row band that sets two lines of black diamonds side by side. In yellow gold, an all-black band looks warm and rich; in white gold, it looks sleek and cool.
Black and White, Stone by Stone
Alternating bands place black and white diamonds one after another, so the band shows a steady rhythm of shine and sparkle. The white stones catch light while the black ones reflect it, and the contrast makes each look stronger. Our alternating bands come in full and half eternity styles and in channel-set designs. They're also the easiest way to pair a black band with a white diamond engagement ring, since the white stones tie the two rings together.
Pattern Rings
Some of our designs treat black and white diamonds like tiles. The checkerboard ring sets them in a grid of alternating squares, available in natural and lab-grown versions. The gridlock ring arranges them in an interlocking geometric pattern. A dual-row ring runs black and white stones in two lines, and the six-stone and "tres" designs place a small group of black and white diamonds across the top of the band. These rings work as wedding bands, anniversary pieces or bold additions to a stack. More dark designs are in our black diamond rings.
Black in Every Shape
Black diamonds are offered across our shape collections, each with its own look:
Choosing the Gold
The metal changes a black band more than a white one. Yellow gold surrounds black diamonds with warmth and gives the band a rich, vintage feel. White gold or 925 sterling silver creates a crisp, monochrome look. Rose gold softens the black and adds a romantic glow. Bands are available in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold, and many also in silver.
Caring for Black Diamonds
Black diamonds are just as hard as white ones and resist scratching, but their inclusions can make them less tough against a sharp knock. Remove the band for heavy work or sports, and clean it with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners, which can stress the stone's internal features.
What a Black Diamond Says
Black diamonds are often chosen as a sign of individuality and strength, a wedding band that feels personal rather than expected. Many couples also like the idea of a dark stone standing for a bond that holds through every season. Whatever it means to you, a black band makes a clear statement without saying a word, and it pairs as easily with a classic white set as with a fully dark one.
Sizing, Certificates and Shipping
Full eternity bands carry stones all the way around and can't be resized once they're made, so each one is built to your ring size. Any black diamond band priced above $800 includes a GSI jewelry certificate. Black diamond bands ship free within the US, with international delivery on request.
Customized Designs
Anything can be customized. We can make an ombre band that shades from black through to white, a band where white diamonds frame each black stone, a different shape or a new pattern. Share your idea with our custom design team.
