Marquise Cut Diamond Rings for Women
A marquise is a long, narrow diamond with a point at each end, shaped like a boat or a closed eye. For its weight, no other shape covers as much of the finger. This collection includes every marquise ring we make, from engagement rings and wedding bands to open rings and lab-grown fancy color marquises, in yellow, white or rose gold.
The Largest-Looking Shape for Its Weight
A marquise puts most of its weight into length. A well-cut 1 carat marquise is about 12 × 6 mm, nearly twice the length of a 1 carat round, which measures about 6.4 mm across. For other sizes, expect roughly 10 × 5 mm at half a carat, about 13.5 × 7 mm at 1.5 carats, around 15 × 7.5 mm at 2 carats and close to 17 × 8.5 mm at 3 carats. If you want the biggest look for the budget, this is the shape that delivers it.
Two Points to Protect
That length comes with a weakness. A marquise has two sharp tips, and a knock on either one can chip the stone. Every marquise ring should cover both points.
Our rings do it in three ways. Solitaires use a V-shaped prong over each tip. A bezel wraps the entire outline in metal, so neither point is exposed, which makes it the best choice for anyone hard on their hands. A halo or hidden halo adds a row of small diamonds around or beneath the center, with metal shielding the tips.
Bow-Tie and Ratio
Nearly every marquise shows a bow-tie: a darker band across its middle where light slips out. It can't be cut away completely, but in a good stone it's faint and moves as the ring turns. Judge it on video rather than a single photo.
Most marquises have a length-to-width ratio between about 1.75 and 2.25. Around 1.85 to 2.10 is the classic shape. Lower ratios look short and plump, while higher ones look very thin and make the bow-tie more noticeable. Check, too, that the two halves match: the points should line up on one straight axis, and the curves on each side should mirror each other. Where Color Shows
A marquise gathers color at its tips. In a white diamond, a faint tint that's invisible in the middle can show at the points, so choose a slightly higher color grade for a white gold setting. The same effect works in favor of a fancy color stone: the ends deepen the color and frame the whole outline.
Pink, Yellow, Blue and Green Marquises
Most of the rings in this collection have a lab-grown fancy color marquise at the center. They come in pink, yellow, blue and green, set as bezel, halo, hidden halo and solitaire engagement rings, and as simple solitaire rings for everyday wear. Marquise Engagement Rings
Beyond the colored stones, the engagement rings come in natural and lab-grown white diamonds: four-prong and bezel solitaires, halos, hidden halos, and pavé bands with small diamonds along the shoulders. Bands, Open Rings and Mixed-Stone Designs

Natural, Lab-Grown and Certificates
Natural marquise diamonds go up to 1 carat, and one of 0.50 carat or more comes with an IGI or GIA report. Smaller natural stones have no documentation.
Lab-grown marquises go up to 3 carats and larger, so they're the route to a long, dramatic center stone. A lab-grown diamond of 1 carat or more has an IGI report, and smaller ones aren't individually certified. Any ring priced above $800 also includes a third-party jewelry certificate from GSI.
