Pear Shape Engagement Rings for Women
A pear diamond has two personalities in one stone: a soft, rounded end and a fine point. That pairing is what makes it romantic without being sweet, and every setting decides how much of each end to show. Our pear engagement rings frame that teardrop in solitaire, halo, pavé, bezel, hidden halo and two-stone designs, with natural, lab-grown or colored centers.
Soft End, Sharp End
The rounded end of a pear behaves like half of a round brilliant, bright and generous. The point narrows the stone into a single line that draws the eye along the finger, which makes the hand look longer and gives the ring direction. Together they create the shape's character: gentle at one end, defined at the other.
That point is also the most delicate part of the stone, which is why a pear setting nearly always includes a V-shaped prong or a rim of metal at the tip. Most pears are worn with the point toward the fingertip. Direction and care of the tip are covered in more depth on our pear shape diamond rings page.
How Each Setting Treats the Point
A solitaire shows the pear exactly as it was cut, with a V-prong guarding the point and a few prongs around the rounded end. It's the purest view of the outline, and it leaves the most room for a band beside it.
A classic halo traces the whole teardrop in small diamonds, sharpening the point into a fine line of light and making the center look noticeably larger. The halo with a pavé band carries that sparkle down the shank for a fuller ring.
A pavé band without a halo keeps the pear's own outline crisp while small diamonds lead toward the rounded end, so the shape reads cleanly from above.
A bezel wraps the pear in a smooth rim of gold, which softens the point and protects it completely. The bezel with a pavé band pairs that protection with sparkle along the shank. These are the most practical pear settings for active hands.
A hidden halo sets small diamonds beneath the stone, visible only from the side, so the top keeps its clean solitaire outline while the profile catches extra light. Compare these styles across every shape in our halo engagement rings and bezel-set engagement rings.
Two Pears, One Ring
Our lab-grown toi et moi sets two pear diamonds side by side, angled so their points lean in opposite directions. The name is French for "you and me", and the two stones are meant to stand for two people joined in one ring. Because each pear is smaller than a single center would be, the ring sits low and wide on the finger and feels more relaxed than a classic solitaire. It suits a couple who want a ring that looks personal rather than traditional, and it pairs well with a thin straight band below it. Two smaller stones also spread the sparkle across the finger, so the ring catches light from more angles than a single pear of the same total weight.
Natural, Lab-Grown or Colored Centers
Each design can hold one of three kinds of center.
A natural pear is mined and offered at 1 carat, and we can source bigger natural pears on request. From half a carat up, every natural pear ships with a grading report from IGI or GIA. Browse mined options in our natural diamond engagement rings.
A lab-grown pear is grown by the CVD method and is a real diamond in every respect. These reach 3 carats as listed and can go beyond that to order, with an IGI report on any lab-grown pear of a carat or more. Our lab-grown diamond engagement rings show the larger sizes.
A colored pear brings pink, yellow, blue or green to the center. These are lab-grown diamonds colored by treatment after growth, and each listing says so, even where an older product name leaves out the word "lab". Pink, yellow and blue come in seven designs, and green in six. A colored pear can be as large as 3 carats in the listed range, or bigger by request. The point of a pear tends to gather a slightly deeper shade, which gives a colored stone extra depth. All four colors sit together in our colored lab diamond engagement rings.
Pear rings priced above $800 include a GSI jewelry certificate as well. Choose 925 sterling silver or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, white or rose; rose gold flatters the soft end of a pear, while white gold makes the point look crisper.
A Band Beside a Point
A pear's point reaches toward the band, and in a halo or toi et moi that tip can leave a gap beside a straight band. A contoured or notched band curves around the point and lets the two rings sit flush. Solitaire, pavé and bezel pears usually pair with a straight band. Our pear shape wedding bands include bands made to fit beside a pear.
Pears Made to Your Design
Beyond the listed rings, we can make a pear engagement ring to your idea: a pear set point-down toward the wrist, an east-west pear turned sideways across the finger, a three-stone ring with a pear at the center, or pear side stones beside a round, oval or other center. We can also source a natural pear above 1 carat or a lab-grown pear above 3. Share your idea with our custom design team. US delivery is free, and we ship to customers abroad.
