Stackable Rings for Women
Stackable rings are slim bands made to be worn together. You can start with one and add more over time, or put several on at once and change the combination whenever you like. Our stackable rings include diamond bands and ruby, emerald and sapphire bands. They come in 10K, 14K and 18K gold, some designs are also available in silver, and many can be engraved free of charge.
How to Build a Stack
A good stack usually has three ingredients.
An anchor. One ring that the others are arranged around. It might be your engagement ring, the widest band, or the one with the most color.
Contrast. Mix textures rather than repeating the same band. A pavé diamond band, a plain polished band and a chevron next to each other look deliberate. Three identical bands look like one wide ring.
Restraint. Two or three rings on one finger is the comfortable range for most people. Beyond that, the stack starts to stop the finger from bending.
Odd numbers tend to look balanced: one ring in the middle with one on each side. Our women's wedding bands stacking guide and half eternity stacking guide show worked examples.
Bands That Stack Well
Half eternity diamond bands. Diamonds across the top and plain gold underneath, so several can sit side by side without the stones pressing into each other. See half eternity rings.
Full eternity bands. Diamonds all the way around for a stack that sparkles from every side. See eternity bands.
Curved and chevron bands. A dip or a point that hugs the ring beside it. These are the bands to reach for when your engagement ring has a wide setting. See curved wedding bands.
Lab-grown and natural diamond bands. Rows of small stones in many widths. See lab-grown diamond wedding bands and natural diamond wedding bands, or the full range of women's wedding bands.
Adding Color: Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire
The gemstones we use in our bands are ruby, emerald and blue sapphire, and each is a birthstone:
A single colored band between two diamond bands is the easiest way to add one. If you want a stone for a month we don't stock, our birthstone gift guide lists them all, and a colored diamond can stand in. See our colored diamond rings.
Gold Karat and Metal
Our stackable rings come in 10K, 14K and 18K gold, in yellow, white and rose.
- 10K has the least gold and is the hardest, so it resists dents and scratches best.
- 14K balances color and durability, and suits rings worn every day.
- 18K has the richest color but is softer, so it shows wear sooner in a stack where bands rub together.
The 14K vs 18K gold guide goes into more detail. Mixing yellow, white and rose gold in one stack is common, and it's an easy way to wear rings you already own alongside new ones.
Some designs are also available in silver, and the product page shows which. Silver costs less and works well for casual stacks, but it is softer than gold and tarnishes over time, so it needs an occasional polish.
Free Engraving
Many of our rings can be engraved inside the band free of charge, depending on the design. A date, initials or a short word turns a stack into a record of the moments behind each ring. Check the product page to see whether a ring can be engraved, and read our personalized jewelry gifts guide for ideas.
Stacking With an Engagement Ring
Wedding and engagement sets are the most common stacks. Put the wedding band closest to the hand, then the engagement ring, then any later anniversary or birthstone bands. If your engagement ring has a wide or low setting, a curved band will sit closer than a straight one. Our guide on how to stack a wedding band with an engagement ring covers the order and the fit.
Sizing a Stack
Several bands together cover more of the finger than one, so a stack often feels tighter than each ring does on its own. If you plan to wear three or more bands at once, try them together before deciding on a size, and consider going up a quarter size. Measure with our size guide, and check the returns and exchange policy before you order.
Looking After Stacked Rings
Rings worn together rub against each other. Diamond is far harder than gold, so a diamond band can slowly mark a plain gold band beside it. Matching karats helps, and bands with bezel or channel settings have smoother edges. Store rings separately so they don't scratch in a drawer, and clean them with warm water and mild soap. Our care guide has more detail.
If you want a band that doesn't exist yet, such as a specific width or stone pattern, ask about a custom design or send us a message. We typically reply within 24 hours.
